  • 4 cups 100% whole wheat flour
  • 1 package instant dry yeast
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons melted organic butter

  1. Combine flour, yeast, and salt.  Add enough warm water, a little at a time, until soft dough forms.  Knead for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. Set aside in warm place covered to rise for about 15 minutes.
  3. Heat cast iron flat skillet (tawa) to high.  Roll out golf ball size dough balls into oblong shapes.  Put on screaming hot tawa on one side for about 10 to 15 seconds or until bubbles form.  Brush a little melted butter on that side, flip over, turn heat to low, and cook covered for about a minute.  Flip over again, cover, and cook for about 30 seconds on low heat.  Take off tawa, brush a little melted butter on other side, and set aside covered.  Repeat with rest of dough.  Enjoy with your favorite Indian side dish!
